“I’ve never met a leopard print I didn’t like”!

—-Diana Vreeland

My favorite leopard is in “Bringing Up Baby”

Katharine Hepburn and “Baby”

 Marchesa Casati paraded the streets
of Venice and Paris with pet leopards:

Then there are the leopards illustrated in
The Indian album of Emily Eden:

Some of my favorite fashion  moments
were in  1960′s films:

Anne Bancroft in “The Graduate”

Audrey Hepburn

The 1950′s was also a quintessential time for leopard:VOGUE

I also love leopard in the home.
Madeleine Castaing brought new meaning to that:

Peter Dunham of Hollywood at Home has
his own interpretation of
leopard:

Million Dollar Decorator Mary McDonald oozes leopard:

Giambattisti Valli’s leopard dress is my favorite:

And there is always a touch of leopard one can add while dashing out the door, like this Alexander McQueen Clutch:

Stilettos by Christian Louboutin:

Slippers by YSL:

And most important, our Leopard Kutch:

Why I Love India……………

Just back!

The Colors……………….

DIana Vreeland said PINK is the navy blue of India.

How about Pink and Orange? Two of my favorite

colors and together.

The Crafts…………….

Making caftans in one of our Hyderabad workshops…………

The Hotels……………

Heaven on earth…………

The view from my room at AMARVILAS

The view from The Taj Mahal Palace

The Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad

Hyderabad was a true discovery with wonderful palaces, mosques, tombs……. and the most delicious food. Jonty from DETOURS can show you all the out of the way places and even organize special cooking lessons.  I will never forget the pastry chef at The Falaknuma Palace who makes whole grain croissants better than any I have had in Paris. I will go back.

The Sacred Cows and Goats…………

The People………………….

especially,  the women in their saris

LuckNow – The Constantinople of India

I went to Lucknow in search of Chikan.  Just as many of our textile journeys, the city was as magical as the delicate and beautiful embroidery Lucknow is famous for.

Why I Love Caftans

I always pack caftans, to hide my body while wearing a swim suit and to try to look glamorous for a cocktail or dinner. There is a caftan for all occasions. Caftans are safe and secure.  I never have to worry about what I may eat or drink when I am out having a good time.  More important, I never worry about what I ate the night before. (more…)
